School Programs

(This page is actively under construction over the summer of 2026)

As parents ourselves, we care about enhancing the quality of education for young students. Cookie Crimes can help your school or other organization raise funds for community investment. We also provide in-classroom ice cream making seminars that are both educational and end with a tasty treat!

An educational reward for your students!

Our ice cream making seminars dovetail nicely with many different curriculum goals. Whether it's a persuasive writing project, learning about the states of matter, or even learning about mental health, we can enhance your student's experience. The presentations typically run 30-45 minutes and end with everyone getting a sample of the ice cream we create together. Everything rolls in and out on a small kitchen cart. All we need is a few liters of water and a 110v plugin.

A typical agenda:

Introductions of presenter and Cookie Crimes
Identify anyone with allergies/dietary restrictions
Vote on the flavor of ice cream to be made
Begin churning the ice cream (churning takes about 20 minutes)

Begin open discussion with the classroom.
Totally customizable to classroom needs and age of students. Topics in the past have included:
- The ingredients that go into ice cream
- The different types of machines that make ice cream (and the thing they all have in common)
- Making food that is accessible to different tastes or diets
- Safe food handling
- Where ingredients come from
- Running a family business
- Mental health and intentionally making yourself happy
- Why we chose to open an ice cream store (my favorite topic)

As ice cream nears completion, the class votes on mixins to add to the ice cream.
Each person gets a big spoonful of the fresh ice cream to taste
We typically leave students with a small gift - a fridge magent or a keychain

Customizable to all ages and settings

We have done these seminars for many settings - schools, youth groups, senior centres, and mom & tot groups. We largely follow the lead of the interests of the classroom, and also adjust content to suit your curriculum and the ages of the participants. We have the most experience with classrooms aged Grades 3 to 5.

Consider how this seminar might connect with other fun classroom activities!
For example, one set of classrooms at Nicholas Sheran did:
- A persuasive writing project selling the idea of an ice cream flavor each student invented
- An ice cream-themed art project (we provided them with our cups)

We have produced ice creams created by students.  With enough advance planning, we can do that with your school! We are also open to bringing students to our facility for tours/ice cream making. Dream up something and pitch it to us!

Pricing

$50 for the first classroom
+$20 per additional classroom in the same visit.

We keep our prices low because we know that budgets are tight. And let's be honest, teaching kids about ice cream feels good too.

Raise funds for an important cause

Are you trying to find a mechanism to raise funds for a school band trip?  Maybe you're getting a playground built? Cookie Crimes can help by providing some sweet treats for your students to sell to the community.

How it works

We discuss your needs and if it's the right fit, we will block off a month in our calendar. We do only one fundraiser per month maximum. Fundraisers typically run for two weeks, with a two week fulfilment window afterwards. For example, a fundraiser might run from November 1 through 15, and then pickup/delivery would happen November 29. This gives us enough time to produce what was ordered.

Your students take our order forms to their families and community and sell preorders. They collect the funds and return them to the school. At the end of the fundraising window, the school reports the sales to Cookie Crimes and we begin production.
Two weeks later, the treats are ready for pickup. We have done in-store pickup as well as delivered to the school for distribution.
When everything is done, we invoice the school for our portion of the sales.

Here are some examples of fundraising options we've done in the past:
- Assorted dozen cookie boxes (Sold at $35, we take $15)
- 4 pack pints of ice cream (Sold at $50, we take $25)
- Cookie Coin vouchers, non-expiring tokens good to claim treats at Cookie Crimes. 2 pints, 4 cookies, 4 scoops of ice cream. (Sold at $55, we take $35)

Customization

Commonly, we will offer options for gluten-free and nut-free treats to make it accessible for more people.
We can make a special offering for your fundraiser to build some hype.

For example, for Agnes Davidson, we made a special flavor of ice cream in their school colors. 4 Packs of Pints sold in that fundraiser came with a pint of that special ice cream.

We would also love to get students more involved - we are open to accepting student volunteers to get involved with making the treats.

Yes, we do field trips!

Contact us with your objectives and we can help you.

Our store is small, so the ideal group to tour through our shop is no more than 15 people at once.
We typically do field trips before our store opens at 12:30.
